Answer: Without having the circuit in front of me it is a hard question to answer. It could be decreasing the voltage too much if wired in series. It could be using too much current if the current is limited. I would recommend wiring it in parallel with your other circuit as to have less of an impact on it. -

Would the 3 volt white LEDs work best with double A battery packs or the coin type battery packs? Which ones would tend to last longer?
Answer: Batteries are like gas tanks. The bigger the battery (volt for volt) the longer it lasts. Plus bigger batteries (as a general rule) put out a higher amperage. A coin may not make your LED glow as brightly.
