New Battles Without Honor and Humanity
About This Item
Introducing the New Battles Without Honor and Humanity 3-Disc Special Edition [Blu-ray], the ultimate collection for fans of Japanese crime and gangster films. This exclusive set features director Kinji Fukasaku's follow-up trilogy, each starring the iconic Bunta Sugawara in separate, yet thrilling stories about the yakuza. The first film in the trilogy, Miyoshi, follows Sugawara's character as a low-level assassin who lands himself in jail after a failed hit. Caught between rival factions within the Yamamori gang, Miyoshi must navigate treacherous waters with no honorable way out. In The Boss's Head, Sugawara plays Kuroda, an itinerant gambler who steps up when a hit goes wrong.
After taking the fall on behalf of the Owada family, Kuroda seeks ruthless vengeance when they fail to fulfill their financial promises. Lastly, Last Days of the Boss sees Sugawara as Nozaki, a laborer who becomes the successor of a crime boss after his murder. Nozaki plots revenge against his rivals, but his relationship with his own sister jeopardizes his standing within the gang. These films are not only important links in Fukasaku's career, but they also showcase his directorial genius and the onscreen power of Toei's greatest yakuza movie stars. With hard-boiled storytelling, thrilling action sequences, and funky musical scores by composer Toshiaki Tsushima, the New Battles Without Honor and Humanity trilogy is a must-have for any fan of Asian cinema. This 3-disc Special Edition set includes high definition digital transfers of all three films, ensuring the best possible viewing experience.
