The slats between which the mattress goes is spaced approximately 5 inches apart, which is not suitable for a memory foam mattress. Mattresses don't slide around because there are sticky strips on the wooden slats. Some users experienced no squeaking, while others lubricated the joints with soap to prevent it. You cannot attach a headboard to the bed frame.
