The main rotating grinder has not been properly machined to fit the auger thread, affecting the consistency of the grind and requiring additional file or sanding work to resolve. In spite of its faults, many users prefer this grain grinder to electric equivalents, particularly for grinding natural herbs for teas and making home-made bread. It is also much more stable than electric models, although there have been some issues with the grinder unit becoming stuck with heavy use.
