Is the WALRUS OIL Rustic Walnut Wood Slabs treated in any way?

The WALRUS OIL Rustic Walnut Wood Slabs are generally untreated, preserving their natural look and feel. Are the WALRUS OIL Slabs sourced sustainably?

Yes, WALRUS OIL prioritizes sustainable sourcing practices for their walnut wood slabs. This means you can purchase with confidence, knowing that the materials used are responsibly harvested. Supporting products that adhere to eco-friendly standards ensures that your woodworking projects are not only beautiful but also environmentally conscious.

What maintenance do these walnut slabs require?

To maintain the integrity and appearance of your WALRUS OIL slabs, regular cleaning with a damp cloth is recommended. For longevity, applying a food-safe mineral oil or wood finish periodically will help protect the wood from moisture and everyday wear. This upkeep keeps your slabs looking fresh and ensures they remain functional for years to come, whether used indoors or outdoors.

What is the live edge feature on these wood slabs?

The live edge feature refers to the natural, unfinished edge of the wood where the tree bark would be. This element adds a unique and organic touch to each slab, making every piece one-of-a-kind. Incorporating live edge slabs into your projects can create a striking centerpiece or focal point, showcasing the natural beauty of the wood grain.

Can I use WALRUS OIL Rustic Walnut Wood Slabs outdoors?

Yes, you can use these wood slabs outdoors, but proper treatment is vital. Applying an outdoor sealant will safeguard the wood against the elements, ensuring the beauty and integrity of the slabs are preserved. Ideal outdoor applications include garden benches, picnic tables, or decorative features in landscaping, allowing you to bring nature into your outdoor spaces.

Do the slabs come with any visible imperfections?

Each WALRUS OIL Rustic Walnut Wood Slab may contain natural imperfections, which are inherent to the live edge style. These features, such as knots or mineral streaks, enhance the organic character of the wood. Rather than detracting from quality, these characteristics can be celebrated as part of the wood's unique story, allowing you to create distinctive, artisanal pieces.

How should I cut or shape these slabs for my projects?

When cutting or shaping your WALRUS OIL slabs, using quality woodworking tools is crucial for achieving clean edges. A circular saw or jigsaw works well for cutting to size, while sanders can help smooth any rough edges.
