Answer: In my experience, the J2000 gives a more hard plastic and rigid feel compared to the softer and more ergonomic feel of the D2000. -

Is it designed to not completely close? One product photo shows slightly opened cutting edge and jaws.
Answer: The cutting edge closes completely, but the top jaws may not completely close and are designed for twisting wires together.
