Answer: I had to take it off mine but put it back it -

Is this functional? i see thin metal eyelets for mounting. this doesn't attach to the frame? is it just for looks? thanks.
Answer: It does attach to the frame underneath. However we had to cut the plastic cover that's underneath the jeep to have the barricade fit. It did take two of us to install. Once its attached it's really sturdy and can easily support lights.. even heavy duty ones. -

The installation process is simple and will take less than an hour to complete. The product includes light mount tabs and has plenty of room for additional modifications. The product also appeals due to its relatively affordable price. However, the included instructions are not good, and it is difficult to remove the existing skid plate. The product may not be ideal for rock climbing. The product does come with a relocation bracket for license plates, which may be necessary in some states.
