Vinyl Vinyl Store Editorial Review
**** "Sie leben," the Blu-ray release of John Carpenter's cult classic "They Live," has garnered a positive reception from viewers who appreciate its unique blend of science fiction and societal critique. Audiences have noted the film's profound messages about capitalism and Consumerism, effectively delivered through a storyline that manages to evoke horror elements without strictly fitting the genre. Many reviews converge on the idea that Carpenter's work has been underappreciated, with fans praising this Blu-ray edition for bringing the film back into the spotlight. Viewers particularly appreciate the quality of the Blu-ray transfer, describing the image and sound as satisfactory, which enhances the viewing experience of this iconic film. Notably, the German release retains the original Spanish dubbing, which has been favored by some viewers, providing a nostalgic charm that enhances the film's appeal for those familiar with the original. Despite minor criticisms regarding the audio quality being merely stereo and concerns over the packaging, the overall sentiment is one of satisfaction. Fans of the genre, especially those who enjoy philosophical narratives similar to "The Matrix," are encouraged to delve into "Sie leben," as it serves as an influential precursor to many modern sci-fi ideas. Overall, "Sie leben" stands out as both an entertaining film and a thought-provoking commentary, making this Blu-ray release a valuable addition for both new viewers and longtime fans alike. **
