If you are referring to the button then this is to allow you to purchase another and you can then loop and tie two together all around the edges to give you a 9 tog for winter, or colder nights. -

I bought a summer wool duvet but it's too hot, will this be cooler?
Answer: Silk has the unique ability to keep you warm in winter but cool in summer. It is also incredibly light in weight. I have used a silk duvet for 2 years now and wouldn't go back to the far bulkier and heavier down or feather ones. -
